In some situations, our support team may ask for a copy of the Windows event logs from your computer or from your server. Use this guide to get this information.


Send Windows event logs to Informant support


  1. Log in to your computer or your server, as requested by our support team.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu and type "Event Viewer," and then click Event Viewer when it appears.
  3. On the left-hand side, open Windows Logs > Application.
  4.  On the right-hand side, click Filter Current Log.
  5. Select Error and click OK.
  6. Save the log: on the right-hand side, click Save Filtered Log File As.... Name the file "ApplicationLog" and click Save. The file will be saved to your Documents folder in Windows.
  7. If prompted about display information, click OK.
  8. Next, on the left-hand side, open Windows Logs > System.
  9.  On the right-hand side, click Filter Current Log.
  10. Select Error and click OK.
  11. Save the log: on the right-hand side, click Save Filtered Log File As.... Name the file "SystemLog" and click Save. The file will be saved to your Documents folder in Windows.
  12. If prompted about display information, click OK (no changes are needed here).
  13. Email the "ApplicationLog.evtx" and "SystemLog.evtx" files to our support team.
