In some situations, our support team may ask for a copy of the Windows event logs from your computer or from your server. Use this guide to get this information.
Send Windows event logs to Informant support
- Log in to your computer or your server, as requested by our support team.
- Open the Windows Start menu and type "Event Viewer," and then click Event Viewer when it appears.
- On the left-hand side, open Windows Logs > Application.
- On the right-hand side, click Filter Current Log.
- Select Error and click OK.
- Save the log: on the right-hand side, click Save Filtered Log File As.... Name the file "ApplicationLog" and click Save. The file will be saved to your Documents folder in Windows.
- If prompted about display information, click OK.
- Next, on the left-hand side, open Windows Logs > System.
- On the right-hand side, click Filter Current Log.
- Select Error and click OK.
- Save the log: on the right-hand side, click Save Filtered Log File As.... Name the file "SystemLog" and click Save. The file will be saved to your Documents folder in Windows.
- If prompted about display information, click OK (no changes are needed here).
- Email the "ApplicationLog.evtx" and "SystemLog.evtx" files to our support team.
