Problem


You may receive the following error message when trying to start Informant:



Cause


Your computer's antivirus software is erroneously preventing Informant from running or starting up normally due to a false positive in the antivirus software. This can sometimes happen after an Informant update or if your antivirus software is updated.


In this case, the antivirus has quarantined and removed certain files that Informant needs to run.


Resolution


  1. Add an exception to your antivirus software for the C:\ProgramData\Informant folder. This tells the antivirus software that Informant is safe to use. Consult your antivirus software's documentation and/or get in touch with your IT provider for assistance with adding an exception to your antivirus software.
  2. Re-run the Informant installer for your current Informant version to repair your installation of Informant.
