Follow this guide to update Informant when a new version is released or if you receive a patch version from our support team.

Before you install the update
- Make sure everyone is logged out of Informant.
- You'll need Administrator rights in Windows to install the update.
Where to install the update
When updating, you'll need to install the update on all computers running Informant or Informant plug-ins, including:
- Your Informant server machine (if you only have one computer, it is your server machine)
- Any devices (PC's, laptops, or tablets) running Informant inside your department.
- Any other devices (PC's, laptops, or tablets) running Informant outside of your department (i.e., patrol car terminals or laptops and laptops used to access Infomrant remotely via OnPatrol).
Steps to install the update
On each computer/device (as noted in the previous section), perform the following steps:
- Close Informant if it is currently open.
- Download the relevant Informant installer file from the Download Informant page or copy it from a thumb drive or network folder if you've already made a copy of the update file elsewhere.
- Double-click the update file to run it. The update file will be named informant-v[VERSION]-bundled-setup.exe, where [VERSION] is the version of the update being installed.
- Accept the license agreement and click through the remaining prompts in the installation program.
