If your department needs to move Informant to a new server, server migration assistance is included as part of your support agreement.
Our role in the server migration process
We will connect remotely to your old and new server to directly assist you and your IT with the server migration, including moving the Informant database to the new server and reinstalling any Informant services installed on the old server onto the new server. If you do not have preferred remote connection software, we will use ScreenConnect to connect to your servers.
Your role in the server migration process
You or your IT will handle acquiring the new server and ensuring that both the old and new server are accessible during the server migration so that we can move your database and other files needed for Informant from the old server to the new server.
During the migration, you or your IT will be responsible for entering passwords to access the server(s) when needed, assisting with the transfer of files between servers where needed, and other tasks that our support team cannot directly perform.
After we migrate the database and set up the Informant software on the new server, you or your IT will be responsible for re-configuring any Informant and OnPatrol clients to connect to the new server (we will provide instructions for how to do so), as well as for coordinating with third-party vendors if needed to point to the new server, such as for CAD Interface and the E-Citation Interface, if those features are installed.
Server migration checklist
We will work with you or your IT before, during, and after the migration to ensure a smooth transition to the new server.
We've developed a checklist that you and your IT can use to prepare for your server migration, which also contains details about the process overall and coordinating with our team: Server migration checklist
